LEATHERFACE

El mundo de la musica , en general , suele ser bastante injusto . El caso que nos ocupa ahora es uno de esos que prueban que las corporaciones musicales que dominan el mercado saben mucho de economia (por eso lo dominan) pero muy poco de música . Quizá LEATHERFACE fueran demasiado REALES para todos esos buitres . Demasiado autenticos . Y demasiado....feos? Porque no encuentro otra explicación para la situación que vivió este grupo . En un mundo en que NOfx , Pennywise o Bad Religion tuvieron su oportunidad y su momento , leatherface tendrían que haber tenido el suyo . Y es que sin despreciar en absoluto a las anteriores bandas que he nombrado(que me encantan) , el cuarteto de Sunderland , UK , les pega 2.000.000 de patadas en todo . Es así . Este grupo destila emoción a raudales , buenas guitarras , y fantasticas melodias cantadas por una voz totalmente jodida , la del cantante , genio y compositor de la banda , Frankie Stubbs( que desnuda su alma en cada cancion) ; melodias que en la voz de Billie Joe por poner un ejemplo , hubieran vendido millones y millones de discos .

Asi se las gasta Stubbs en DEATH INDUSTRIAL ATMOSPHERE de su disco "Mush" , una canción en que realmente notas el ambiente asfixiante que se debia respirar en una ciudad de la Inglaterra postindustial a finales de los 80 como es Sunderland :

Su discografia es extensa y comienza en 1988 con Cherry Knowle , le sigue el genial Fill your boots en 1990 , su obra cumbre el MUsh salio en 1991 (al tiempo que el nevermind de nirvana) en 1993 sacarón el MInx , en el 1994 Llegó The Last , ultimo disco de la formación original . Entonces se separaron y lo dejaron por unos años para volver en 1999 a lo grande , en un compartido que edito BYO con Hot water music , en el 2000 llegó Horsebox , otra obra maestra ,su disco mas melódico y más personal y que contiene dos versiones magistrales de Cindy Lauper(true colors) y Nick Cave(ship song) y finalmente editaron Dog Disco en el 2004 . Actualmente se encuentran en activo , dando conciertos esporadicamente .

Les han puesto millones de etiquetas ; emo punk , harcore , punk melodico ,hardcore melodico , punk pop, rockcore ... quizá sea porque no encajan totalmente en ninguno de los estilos nombrados anteriormente...quizá por eso no llegaron a cuajar comercialmente o quiza por eso son la puta ostia.... no te calientes , esto es punk rock del bueno ..........LEATHERFACE!!!!!!!!!
